Tired of long waits at the pharmacy? Well, look no further than Medly Pharmacy where they will send prescriptions right to your door! Through a character’s journey, I wanted to show the current pain points in pharmaceuticals and how Medly could alleviate them.
Style
Medly had great branding to work from, but no instances of full-bodied characters, close-ups, or environments. I did a style early on to explore what it would look like for our main character to receive her prescription at her office. By adding in a more muted palette in the background, I could create some depth in the “room.” It was also important to bring in and incorporate the pill-shaped overlays as framing around the side. We continued to use those pill ornaments as ways to create vignettes throughout the video, like in this close-up shot of the patient receiving her medication.
Music and Sound Design
Discussing prescriptions and medical care can be quite serious, so I knew going into the music I didn’t want it to be too nonchalant or silly. At the same time, I felt like the Medly branding needed a composition that was as bright as the way they see the future of pharmaceuticals. I also wanted the sound design to feel rounded in tone, like the pills and rounded ornaments throughout the video. There is also a wonderful moment between sound and music where I wanted all the music to cut out as we feel the pain point of waiting for the prescription — a lovely tik-tik-tik! And then… whoosh we’re off again!
